An undisputed master of puppet animation, Co Hoedeman would captivate TV audiences with The Sand Castle (1977), a film that went on to win an Oscar for Best Animated Short. He had emigrated from Holland in 1965, aged, 25, in the hopes of finding work at the NFB.

Anna Andreevna is a former actress who lived a rather selfish life, but now she's dying of an incurable disease, spending her last days in an expensive private hospice. Zhenya is a young aspiring actor who came from a provincial town and grabs any role offered. He was left out of work, since filming was suddenly suspended. To somehow exist and repay the loan he took out, Zhenya works part-time as an animator at a hospice, there he meets Anna Andreevna.

An artist gains the power to draw the future and erase the past.
